Brass Caption HeadMatt Jaeger

Matt is entering his 11th year as the Brass Caption Head of the White Sabers. He has been involved in drum and bugle corps since 2004, performing and teaching with the Ghost Riders Mini Corps (2004, 2008-2016), the Rochester Crusaders Drum & Bugle Corps (2005-2009), then joining the White Sabers organization in November of 2011.

Matt is the director of the Medina Mustang Marching Band, and also teaches Jr./Sr. High School Band during the day at Medina. Before teaching in Medina, he taught band and general music for the Rochester City School District. Matt has also taught and consulted with a number of other marching bands throughout NYS since 2006 including Greece, Pembroke, Central Square, Webster, and the Pride of Rochester.

Matt is very excited for this coming season with the White Sabers, and is looking forward to helping the corps continue its success!


Percussion

Percussion Caption Head –Jordan Ripley

Jordan marched with the White Sabers from 2006-2016. After being a section leader of the battery for various years, he went on to march snare at United Percussion 2015 and 2016. He then taught Skyliners Drum & Bugle Corps in 2017, 2018, and 2019 filling the roles of tenor technician, snare technician, and tenor technician/battery coordinator.

Jordan is honored to be spending a 13th season with the White Sabers!


Colorguard

Colorguard Caption Head Kara Brown

Kara has been involved in the marching arts since 2005. She began her color guard career marching with the Patriots Winterguard, and continued marching with them for 10 years until her age-out of A class in 2015. Kara has performed with the Rochester Crusaders Drum and Bugle Corps (2007-2009), the Boston Crusaders Drum and Bugle Corps (2010-2013), and the White Sabers Drum and Bugle Corps (2015-2019).

Kara enjoys passing along her passion for the activity to students and colorguard members of all ages. She has worked with numerous organizations in the upstate NY area, including Gates Chili Colorguard, Medina Marching Band, and the White Sabers Drum and Bugle Corps. She started working with the Gates Chili Colorguard organization 11 years ago as an instructor. She has worked with the parade and field band colorguard, and was the lead instructor & show designer for the JV winterguard. This winter she will be working with the IA winterguard program. 

Kara has had the opportunity to work with the Medina Mustang Marching Band since the fall of 2019. She is proud to have been part of a strong instructional staff that led the band to its NYSFBC championship-winning seasons in 2019 and 2021. She has been on the White Sabers Colorguard staff since the summer of 2019. The White Sabers has been an important part of Kara’s life for the past 8 years and she is excited for the chance to act as the colorguard caption head again this season.

When she is not marching or teaching, Kara works full time as an Interior Designer at an Architectural Firm in Rochester NY.


Visual

Visual Caption Head Tim Moshier

Tim is returning for his third year as visual caption head with the White Sabers. He began his drum corps career in 2013 with the White Sabers as a trumpet player and soloist. He went on to march with the Bluecoats and its 2016 DCI World Championship production “Down Side Up.” In 2017 he returned to White Sabers as a brass and visual instructor, where he continues to teach with some of the finest educators in the activity.

Tim is a band director in Baldwinsville, New York with the Baldwinsville Bees Marching Band, Pep Band, and Indoor Drumline. Before coming to Baldwinsville he was the director for Vestal High School in Vestal, New York. His bands and private students consistently receive superior ratings at competitions and festivals throughout the northeast. Tim continues to be a visual designer and consultant for several marching bands in the area.

Tim received his Masters in Music Education from Central Washington University in Ellensburg, Washington in 2022, and his Bachelor’s from Fredonia State University in 2016 where he studied trumpet with Roderick MacDonald and Peter Lindblom. He currently resides in Baldwinsville, New York.
